Heart Walk - Feb 2009

On Saturday, we participated in The Heart Walk. My dad's office was raising money for this cause. The walk took place in Tempe and met at Tempe Town Lake. We thought this would be a great opportunity to try out the new Light Rail system in Phoenix. It was pretty easy to use and was very clean. We were dropped off right by Tempe Town Lake. On another note, Randy and I are looking forward to taking the Light Rail with the Revas for a Pub and Ride... Not sure when that will be but I am sure it will be LOTS of fun!

Randy helping Marcus get his ticket to ride the Light Rail (actually kids under 5 are free)Here comes the train!!

Marcus and Daddy on the train. He let Marcus have the window seat. What a great daddy!

Right before the Heart Walk we met my parents to learn about the course. This also gave us a chance to grab some freebies from the participating vendors. My mom and I walked away with lots of cereal, chips, bread, water and fruit. Fun!
The Heart Walk was a 5k (3.1 miles) and followed a course much like the Tillman Run which is a 4.2 miles. The Tillman Run is being held on April 18th this year.
My mom and dad before the walk. My mom's foot has been hurting her so she was a real trooper to go the whole 3 miles! Great Job, Mom!Little Kalls uses her brother's shoulder as a pillow. After the walk we headed back on the Light Rail. We drove by Sparky's home (Sun Devil Stadium)
