Zoo with the Robertson's

On Thursday, we got up early and headed down to the Phoenix Zoo. We got there around 8am and met the Robertsons and Grammie. It was a nice day... not too hot. We walked around for a little while and saw the tiger, lions and rhinos. Oh ya, and the baboons!
Then we stopped at the water area. Marcus refused to go in, but Kalli gave it a try. Sonja's sons, Noah and Caleb, had a blast going down the slides, going in and out of the tunnels and getting wet in the splash area. Maybe next time Marcus will try it out.
After that, we dried off and went to see Monkey Village. The monkeys were playing "leap frog" on the rope. It's always a neat exhibit to see.
Then we walked around a little more and saw the orangutans and the elephant. We decided that we had heard enough of the boys wanting snacks and food so grabbed a table in the shade and had a little picnic lunch. To our surprise, we were joined by a peacock. It was really cool because just a few minutes before the peacock joined us, she had fanned out her feathers. How pretty! Kalli wasn't paying attention to the peacock and almost lost her sandwich! She was a little afraid after that, but soon forgot.
On out way out Caleb manned the penny crushing machine and made pennies for himself, Marcus and his brother, Noah. Both kids were zonked when we got into the car.

Sonja and Kalli check out the giraffes.

Marcus tries to see the animals in the back.
