Meeting Parker Downing

Ever since McCaffery left in 2007 with Uncle John and Aunt Jackie, Bumpa has been jonesing for a dog. Grammie and Bumpa had enjoyed being pet-free for a few years and they were able to travel wherever they wanted to and not have to worry about a dog-sitter. Well, the time finally came when Grammie told Bumpa that he could start looking for a dog. He was so happy, I swear he had the biggest grin ever! All three sons were helping Bumpa find the best dog they could. Mike and Randy were constantly sending him links to dogs that they had found online. Randy hooked Bumpa up with one of his old co-workers who rescues dogs here in the valley. She searched and searched and finally found a dog that Bumpa and Grammie would be interested in.
His name was Parker (he is a mix breed) and his family was going to be moving from their big backyard house in Gilbert to a high rise apartment in Chicago and they could not take him with them. Parker shared the house with his owners and a two year old girl who he adored. Bumpa and Grammie went over to meet Parker. After seeing how good he was with the little girl and how well trained he was, they knew they just had to rescue him. It took one day for them to call and pick up Parker. That night we went down to meet him. He was really great with Marcus and Kalli. The best part of all, he is glued to Bumpa. It's going to fun getting used to seeing a big dog at Grammie and Bumpa's house.
